Police have confirmed the death of a man following a major emergency response at Street shop today.

Crews from the ambulance, fire service, and police were called to McColls on West End at 11.28am, following a medical incident.

A heavy presence was witnessed at the scene and an air ambulance landed on the nearby Icon Estate.

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: "We were called at 11.18hrs to an incident in Street and sent a double-crewed land ambulance, an operations officer and an air ambulance."

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said they were called to the scene a few hours after the ambulance service arrived.

"The ambulance service has made us aware of a medical incident at a shop in West End, Street, at around 1.50pm today (Tuesday 20 December). Sadly, a man was pronounced dead a short time later. Our thoughts are with the man's family during this difficult time."
