Cylinder Fire at Street

Date: 25.05.2019Time: 13:37Location: StreetFire Control received a call reporting a cylinder fire at a domestic property in Street. Appliances from Street, Glastonbury and the Environmental Protection Unit from Taunton was also mobilised to attend. On arrival crews found the fire to be out and all oncoming appliances were no longer required.

Fire Crews from Street reported the fire to be involving 6 Butane cannisters which were believed to be used to light a BBQ when a blowback occurred and resulted in minor burns to one male casualty.

Fire Crews treated the casualty with cold water for burns. The casualty was left in the care of the Ambulance Service. Suitable Safety advice was given regarding BBQ Safety. The cause of the fire was accidental.

BBQ Safety advice states Only use recognised fire lighters or starter fuel and only on cold coals – use the minimum necessary and never use petrol
