Converting garages into living accommodation is proving popular in Glastonbury, with a planning application being submitted and another being approved over the past week.

The application that has been submitted this week is to extend an existing driveway by dropping four kerbs and the conversion of an existing flat-roofed garage into a living space with a pitched roof and front window in place of the current garage door, and replacing the existing single-glazed rear property entrance at 24 Hill Head Close, Glastonbury, by Robert and Sarah Weech.

Approved this week has been the application by Suzanne E Drew for the conversion of an integral garage into a bedroom with en-suite bathroom replacing the garage door with a window at 5 Hood Close, Glastonbury.

Other planning applications in the Glastonbury area that have been submitted this week to Mendip District Council include:

Application for approval of details reserved by conditions 7 (external facing materials), on planning consent 2016/3166/FUL at Plot 2, Willow Bridge Farm, Lower Godney, has been made by Mr and Mrs William and Emma Yeats.

Application for a non-material amendment to permission 2020/0850/HSE for the addition of a window and double doors to rear elevation and repositioning of roof lights at 1 Gilberts Corner, Burnetts Lane, Baltonsborough, has been made by Mr and Mrs Swayne.

One other planning application in Glastonbury has been decided this week by Mendip District Council:

Five-Day notice: T1 (lime) - reduce crown of existing side of stem and stabilise and reduce fall and stem part at Chalice Well, Chilkwell Street, Glastonbury, has been approved.
