Plans are underway for this year's Beltane celebrations in Glastonbury, and the community is being asked to help.

A community meeting is being held tomorrow (Tuesday, April 26) at The Becket's Inn and any individuals, groups or businesses that would like to participate in planning the day of celebration on May 1, or think they may be able to help in some way, are invited to attend.

Plans for the day so far include community performances at the Market Cross from 10am, the Glastonbury Dragons May Fayre from 10am in the Glastonbury Abbey Abbots Kitchen, a Maypole procession on the High Street at 12.30pm and bringing together the four Perpetual Flames of Glastonbury in the spirit of solidarity and unity, throughout the town. Six stewards are urgently needed to help guide the maypole.

Among those taking part in the celebrations is the Glastonbury Border Morris Dances (GBMD). Daniel De La Bedoyere from GBMD explains; '' We love performing every year at Beltane, and this year will be exceptional. As always, we're on the lookout for new members, both dancers and musicians. Any ability and no experience necessary.''

The meeting will take place at The Becket's Inn. 7.30pm for a 7.45pm start.
