Strode College is excited to share their Criminology Day with the public and other post-16 education providers, which is to be held on Wednesday 26th April at Strode Theatre.

The College's day event 'Pathways through harm: reducing harm and developing future experts' culminates in a FREE 2-hour evening session in Strode Theatre for the local community. Picking up on local and national concerns about young people and their vulnerability to child criminal exploitation through drugs, gangs and county lines, Strode College are delighted to offer the opportunity to hear from some of the country's leading crime fighters.

In the afternoon Strode College students will have the opportunity to hear from Tony Saggers, former Head of Drugs Threat and Intelligence with the National Crime Agency, Michael Railton, national expert on Urban Street Gangs and their manipulation of online spaces, and Matt Lockyer, an independent Expert Witness and police trainer for Drugs.

Their special guests will include a variety of law enforcement and criminal justice workers who will be able to give students careers contacts and advice. This afternoon event will be opened up to local colleges and post-16 education providers so that as many students as possible can benefit in the local area.

The evening session, which will run from 7pm at Strode Theatre, will see Matt Lockyer walk the local community through a number of real life scenarios to support what to look for when people are at risk, and how the legal system deals with a variety of drug-based issues.

Strode College lecturer Ian Luckhurst and his Special Constable colleague will then talk about crime protection and community policing. The College hopes as many local people as possible will join them.

If you are representing a local college or post-16 provider, and would like to arrange for your students to attend the afternoon session or are a member of the public and would like to attend the evening session please complete a form on the College's website here strode-college.ac.uk/news. It will also be available in the college's social media channels.
