Caravan fire near Glastonbury believed to be arson attack

A caravan has been destroyed in a suspected arson attack on the outskirts of Glastonbury.

At about 4.45pm today (November 5) one fire appliance from Wells and one from Street attended a fire involving a caravan on the side of the road in Kennard Moor Drove.

On arrival, crews confirmed the caravan well alight, and got to work extinguishing the blaze using a compressed air foam jet. The police were requested due to the nature of the incident.

Once the fire was out, crews checked the wreckage with a thermal imaging camera, to ensure hot spots could be damped down.

Following an investigation, the cause of the fire was deemed as deliberate, and duty of care was left with the police.
