Avon and Somerset is the UK’s 6th worst offender for speeding fines

Avon and Somerset places 6th as the UK's worst offending region for speeding, with fines hitting 9.56% of drivers. 

Over the police area, which covers 1,744,800 people, 166,781 speeding tickets were issued last year, averaging 9,559 offences per 100,000 residents.

The group at Moneybarn car finance have analysed the number of penalties received by drivers in each police force area, revealing the speeding capitals with the highest amount of fines in the UK. 

Number one in the list is Lincolnshire, with a population of 769,500, there were 88,641, speed offences, which accounts to 11,519 per 100,000 of people, so 11.52%

The lowest number of cases, or is it just the lowest numbers caught is a police area in Wales.

Gwent, South Wales, has the fewest speed limit offences in the UK, with 31 speed limit offences per 100,000 people.
