Annual Canvas begins
Annual Canvas begins

Over the coming months, Mendip District Council will be contacting households asking to check that their voter registration details are correct. This is called an annual canvass.

The annual canvass ensures the Council keeps the electoral register up to date. It helps identify any residents who are not registered to vote and encourages them to do so.

People who have recently moved house are particularly urged to look out for the voter registration messages.

Households will receive either a form or an official letter by post. The correspondence will be addressed to the occupier and includes full details of what steps to take.

If you receive a form and your details need updating, this can be done simply online or by posting the form back using the pre-paid envelope. If there are no changes to be made, then responses can be sent via text message or phone.

If you receive a letter, changes can be made online or by phone using the number provided within the letter.

It takes just five minutes to check the details to confirm they are correct, or to update them.

Remember, if you are not registered to vote, you may not be able to take part in any upcoming local or national election.

If you have a query about the canvass, please do not hesitate to contact Mendip's Electoral Services Team by emailing [email protected] or by calling 0300 303 8588. They'll be happy to help.
