Adapting the Levels, a partnership project between Somerset Wildlife Trust, Somerset County Council, and FWAG (Farming & Wildlife Advisory Group) South West, has launched a new Climate Adaptation Toolkit to help communities in Somerset prepare for the changing climate.

The effects of climate change, including flooding and severe heatwaves, are already impacting communities in the county, and it is only expected to worsen as the climate crisis continues. Therefore, climate adaptation is crucial. The Adapting the Levels project aims to help individuals and communities take action by providing a guide that includes information about the need for climate adaptation, actions that can be taken, advice on funding, consents, and permits, and resources to create a locally tailored climate adaptation plan.

The Climate Adaptation Toolkit is free and can be downloaded from the Somerset Wildlife Trust website.

The project aims to support communities in the region and provide them with the tools needed to prepare for the challenges presented by climate change.

Speaking about the project, a spokesperson for Adapting the Levels said: "We know that climate change is already affecting communities in Somerset, and we want to help individuals and communities take action. Our Climate Adaptation Toolkit provides accessible information and resources to help create a locally tailored climate adaptation plan. By working together, we can prepare for the changing climate and protect our communities."
