A weekend of revelry and exploration: Glastonbury has it all
This weekend promises to be filled with enjoyment, inspiration, and community. So, mark your calendars and be sure to make the most of the myriad of activities on offer.
Kicking off this weekend is The Godney Gathering on the 14th and 15th of July.
This two-day musical festival will be headlined by The Zutons, the acclaimed indie rock band hailing from Liverpool. Alongside The Zutons, attendees will be treated to a plethora of incredible artists from around the UK including The Sherlocks, Dub Pistols, STARS Music, and many more. The festival is not just for adults; children aged 15 and under go free, with activities such as Forest School and a craft tent set to keep them engaged throughout the weekend.
Simultaneously, a cinematic feast awaits film lovers. Strode Theatre will be screening "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" and "Greatest Days" from the 14th - 19th of July, with "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" available on the 15th of July.
On Saturday morning, 15th July, the St. Benedict's Church Hall on Benedict Street will host a Repair Café from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Not just a typical repair shop, the café offers visitors a chance to bring along a broken item, enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, and learn repair skills from the experts on-site.
Music lovers will also enjoy an event titled 'Show and Dance' on the same day, from 8:00 pm to 1:00 am. Hosted by Natami Music & Kine Recording Studio at The Red Brick Building, the night will be filled with the best of Reggae music. Tickets are available from £20.00 to £25.00.
Also on Saturday, 'The Best Bits' Live will take place at Meadway Hall in Compton Dundon at 7:00 PM GMT+1. The event, celebrating 10 years of A Cappella adventures with The Sons of Pitches, promises an evening of nostalgia and music that fans will not want to miss.
On Sunday 16th July, the local musician Harry Gillam will be the star of a Sunday Session at The King Arthur. This free entry event will run from 8-10pm, showcasing Gillam's renowned talent.
The weekend concludes with two performances of 'Horrible Histories – Barmy Britain Live on Stage' at Glastonbury Abbey on Sunday, 16th July. The shows, scheduled for 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm, promise to take the audience on a humorous journey through Britain's history. Prices remain the same as in 2022, but the cost for the evening show has been reduced in response to the ongoing cost of living crisis. Tickets categories include adults (over 15), children (5-15, who must remain supervised), and concession (for over 60s and students with a valid ID).
Regardless of your interests, this weekend offers an array of engaging experiences sure to cater to all tastes. Don't miss out on this memorable weekend of entertainment and enrichment.
