As we head into the weekend, Glastonbury is offering up a range of activities that will satisfy art lovers, spiritual seekers, music enthusiasts, and families alike.
Our weekend's guide owes a big thank you to The King Arthur in Benedict Street. As well as being an excellent music venue, they sponsor this newsletter.
This weekend, as always, they're bursting at the seams with music performances - on Friday, Rohan Black will take the stage, followed by DJ GloWorm's vinyl-spinning magic on Saturday. House music lovers should mark their calendars for DJ Martin Solo on Saturday, and those looking for a relaxing end to the weekend can enjoy Riki Buckingham's soothing Sunday Session.
Over in Street, this weekend Clarks Village is marking it's 30th birthday with a huge party. The shopping centre is holding a festive three-day event, packed with fun, food, and fabulous entertainment, from Saturday 12th to Monday 14th August. The street party also promises a crafts workshop and a festival glitter station. The celebratory atmosphere will be amplified by the sounds of six roaming musicians and entertainers performing throughout the three-day extravaganza. Additionally, talented pianist Chloe Marie Aston will grace the Central Gardens with her performance on Monday, 14th August.
Visitors will also have a chance to support local independent businesses at the pop-up artisan market at the Village over the weekend.
Glastonbury has long been a hub for spiritual seekers, and this weekend is no exception. The Ascension Glastonbury Conference is being held at The Assembly Rooms from Friday to Sunday, and offers an opportunity for spiritual growth and connection. The Spiritual, Holistic & Wellness Fayre at Glastonbury Town Hall on Saturday promises to nourish the mind, body, and soul.
Beyond King Arthur's offerings, the town's lively music scene continues to thrive. Jez Hellard & The Djukella Orchestra are set to perform at Avalon Constitutional Club on Friday evening, and Beckets Inn will host the Glastonbury Pagan Moot at 7.30pm.
For those drawn to artistic expression, Abbey House will host "Catching the Light; Nature in Paint and Collage" on Saturday morning, an exploration of natural beauty through art.
Families can look forward to Dragonfly Day at the Somerset Rural Life Museum on Sunday. This interactive event will engage children and adults alike with fascinating insights into these delicate creatures.
Strode Theatre in Street is also showing the Pixar movie "Elemental" on Saturday and Wells Film Centre is back in action after a power cut last week, with the following films on offer. Even better, for the duration of the school summer holiday, it's just £5 per ticket.
History buffs should not miss Sunday's Hypocaust Firing Day at Avalon Archaeology, where they can dive into the ancient heating systems that once warmed Roman Britain.
Glastonbury's rich tapestry of music, spirituality, art, and history ensures a weekend full of fun. Enjoy your weekend!
