Cinderella at the end of this year will be Glastonbury and Street Musical Comedy Society's 11th pantomime at Strode Theatre, but it will also be the last.

Over the past decade, the society has performed some of the most well-known pantomimes, entertained thousands of people and raised thousands of pounds for charity, and for the theatre in Street.

A spokesperson for the society said: "Now it is time for both our society and the theatre to look to the future.

"After wide consultation, the theatre is working towards a more sustainable financial footing, with professional live arts joining community shows and independent cinema at the heart of the programme.

"At the same time, Glastonbury and Street Musical Comedy Society (GSMCS) is exploring different options for its autumn shows.

"We're both looking forward to going out with a bang this December for the final GSMCS panto at Strode.

"Rest assured, our decades-long partnership with the theatre is as strong as ever, and the traditional spring show will continue to be an important part of the programme.

"We will, of course, continue staging our award-winning shows, including The Full Monty this March and April."
