Make new friends, explore Europe, and enjoy cultural exchanges with the Street Twinning Association – no language skills required!

If you love short trips abroad, meeting new people, exploring new places, and experiencing different cultures, the Street Twinning Association (STA) is inviting new members to take part in its 2025 exchange programme.

STA offers the chance to travel to France and Germany, stay with host families, and take part in organised trips, meals, and cultural experiences – all while making lifelong connections with fellow travellers.

What is Street Twinning?

STA connects the Somerset town of Street with its twin towns of Notre Dame de Gravenchon in France and Isny im Allgäu in Germany. Each year, members visit their European counterparts and, in return, welcome them to Somerset.

Last year, 16 members travelled to France, where they visited the D-Day beaches and historic sites before spending time with their hosts. In August, 24 members flew to Zurich, where they were met by their German hosts and treated to day trips, shared meals, and even an Alpenhorn performance on the final night.

How to get involved

In 2025, STA will be hosting visitors from France in April and from Germany in August. As both countries have new members keen to take part, STA is looking for families, couples, or individuals willing to host.

What does hosting involve?

• Providing accommodation and some meals for guests.
• Taking part in group day trips and social events (organised by STA).
• Joining a return visit to France or Germany in 2026.
• Travel is organised by STA, with members covering their own transport costs.

Don't speak French or German? No problem. Most guests speak English, and Google Translate is always an option.
