A photographer has taken impressive pictures of Glastonbury Tor - including one that looks like a phoenix-like shape is rising in the sky.

John Wickes captured aerial images of the Somerset monument with his drone on Thursday (Oct 30) at dawn.

He said: "I seldom pursue illusions woven from the ether, but this morning's heavens parted to unveil a profound epiphany.

"Suspended in ephemeral flames within the drifting veils of cloud, a phoenix ascended, its wings a blaze of crimson and gold, igniting the ancient silhouette of the Tor below.

"Bizarrely, this was no solitary apparition; another such mythic bird had soared above the same sacred mound earlier this month, as if the veil between worlds thins with the turning of the autumn equinox, beckoning forgotten legends back to the sky."

Social media user Wendy Hamilton commented: "Almost looks like a phoenix-rising."
