Residents of Glastonbury and Somerton will need to stay up until the early hours of 5 July to find out who their MP will be for the next five years.

The UK heads to the polls in a general election on 4 July, with polling stations open from 7am to 10pm nationwide. Many voters have already cast their ballots via postal voting.

Once polling stations close at 10pm, volunteers will transport the ballot boxes to counting venues, where the ballots will be verified and counted before the results are announced.

For Glastonbury and Somerton, the results are expected around 4am, with the count taking place at the Westlands Entertainment Venue in Yeovil.

In 2015, this venue saw the Liberal Democrats lose heavily to the Conservatives in both Yeovil and Somerton and Frome. However, a different outcome may be on the cards this time.

Please note that all timings are approximate and could be affected by delays in verifying and counting ballots or by recounts requested by candidates.

There have been significant boundary changes at this election, leading to considerable uncertainty around some of these timings.
