The head chef of the Bocabar has taken over as new owner of the Bocabar in Glastonbury, and will be reopening it next month under a new name.

Mel and Paul Eavis have handed over ownership to their head chef Matt Brooks, and he will be reopening the bar/restaurant on Thursday July 9 as the Old Tannery.

Paul and Mel has run the Bocabar for seven years, and say they plan to continue volunteering at the Red Brick Building site.

They said: "As for many of us, the closing of doors on March 23 has given us all time to stand back and assess, and take some time to make some decisions.

"We felt it could be a great opportunity to use the time to hand over the reins and met with our lovely head chef, Matt, to see if he felt it was an opportune time for him to take things on.

"We're pleased to say that we all agreed it was. Matt has had time to do some refurb and also get ready for reopening.

"So we're sad to say Bocabar Glastonbury will not be reopening in July, however we're also very pleased to say it will reopen under Matt's new ownership as the Old Tannery on Thursday July 9.

"What's really lovely is that most of the same staff will still be there to welcome you all back. Personally, we have had such a great time getting involved in the Red Brick Building, setting up Bocabar, meeting so many interesting folk and making some really close friends.

"We've had a lot of fun, as those of you might have noticed at the various events we've had, and we're definitely going to keep coming to these so we can keep seeing all of you fab people.

"We'll still be volunteering our time to the Red Brick Building in different ways which makes it all the easier to stay in touch with everyone we've met over the last seven years of Bocabar.

"We'd like to really thank all of you very loyal customers for your support over the years. We'd also like to say a huge warm thank you to our amazing Boca team, our kitchen and front of house team have been incredible over the years, and especially to Marc, our manager, who has been at the core of Bocabar throughout its seven years and has been such a pleasure to work with.

"We hope to see many of you soon - enjoying delicious food, coffees and cocktails at the Old Tannery."
