Vision For Education are looking to appoint a Creative Art Assistant to work with young people who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs, autism, ADHD, PMLD, challenging behaviours and other learning difficulties in Glastonbury/Street. An ideal candidate for the role of Creative Art Assistant will be someone who can work in a fast-paced environment, be adaptable and have excellent communication skills. The desired Creative Art Assistant will have a passion for working with young people and be able to build rapport quickly, supporting young people in making positive choices.

Requirements

The desired Creative Art Assistant will have:

  • Experience of working with secondary and primary school aged children in schools.
  • Experience of working with pupils with SEND.
  • A passion for the progress of SEND primary and secondary school pupils.
  • An ability to work as part of a team.
  • An ability to build rapport quickly with students
  • Key qualities such as: Patience, Sympathetic, Strong-willed

Five Education requires a Cover Supervisor to cover lessons in the event of a teacher's absence. You will be required to follow cover instructions and teach the pre-prepared lesson materials. The suitable candidate will be engaging and confident with children and young people. The school requires you to deliver lesson content, answer questions they may have and offer clear instructions/ guidance to enable pupils to stay on track with the learning that is taking place within the classroom. Five Education is working with multiple schools in Glastonbury, this includes mainstream primary and secondary schools, specialist (SEND) schools and alternative provision. You could be teaching any subject in the National Curriculum. The successful candidate will have a strong sense of initiative, be quick thinking and resilient. The highest demand is for people who can teach Key Stage 3-4 Maths and English. However, if you can teach practical or creative subjects, this skill set is also very much in demand. Additionally, we need people from trade backgrounds, creative industries and those who practice sports. This work is available on a day-to-day basis, meaning you only work on the days you choose to be available, but we also have longer-term positions over several terms. No formal teaching qualification is required to work as a Cover Supervisor but experience working with children and young people is desirable. Some of our candidates are between jobs in their main role or they are studying. We require a minimum commitment of two days a week. The hours of work are 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM, this work is term time only.Responsibilities and duties: -Deliver lesson content using pre-prepared resources -Assess the pupil's understanding of the content -Answer questions and offer guidance to stay on track with learning - Supervise pupils throughout the lesson and address issues calmly and professionally -Collect completed work and carry out related admin -Promote a positive learning environment and deal with any challenges to this swiftly, reporting to the necessary staff Essential Criteria: Confident and patient manner Able to teach at least one school subject Have a right to work in the UK (A Valid Visa) Two recent references, covering the last 2 years Relevant DBS/Police checks, or willing to obtain Experience with young people or children in a supportive role Please note this role is term time only and will commence from September 2025.
