Glastonbury Festival founder Michael Eavis has said that "massive testing arrangements" could be in place if the event takes place next year.

Mr Eavis was speaking at the Wells Festival of Literature last night (October 21) and said that coronavirus testing arrangements could be used if the pandemic was still around at the time the festival is due to take place.

He told the audience in Cedars Hall: "The testing is going so well now, there could be massive testing arrangements.

"Do we want to test 200,000 people three times – when they leave their home, when they're halfway here, and when they get to the gate – so that we're clear of Covid?"

In conversation with Chris Salmon, Mr Eavis was promoting the book he produced with his daughter Emily called Glastonbury 50, which celebrates five decades of the event that takes place at Worthy Farm, Pilton.

During a question and answer session after the talk, Mr Eavis also said his one wish was for Fleetwood Mac to play the festival.

He said: "I would like to get Fleetwood Mac to come, so that's my one wish, I would say.

"I talk to them every year, but it's never quite right, or the money's not right. I am probably a bit of a farmer when it comes to paying the fees."
