St Dunstan's School in Glastonbury has been placed third in the latest league tables for Somerset, in terms of progress made by students.

Ranked alongside other secondary schools that take students from ages 11 to 16, St Dunstan's was only beaten by Brymore Academy in Cannington and the Castle School in Taunton in terms of how much progress pupils made between the end of key stage 2 and the end of key stage 4, compared to pupils across England who got similar results at the end of key stage 2.

The St Dunstan's score was 0.26, which the county average for state schools being -0.15 and the national average being -0.03.

Head teacher Keith Howard said: "I am delighted with the excellent progress students continue to make at St Dunstan's.

"The hard work of the students and teachers is reflected in the fantastic progress our students make.

"St Dunstan's is small enough to ensure that every student achieves their best in a supportive environment where every student is both encouraged and challenged to achieve their very best, while still accessing a full broad curriculum, the best of both worlds. I am very proud of this great set of results that places us as one of the top schools in Somerset."

The school is holding Open Day tours this week, at 11am on both Tuesday October 22 and Thursday October 24.
