Glastonbury fire crew out in early hours

Fire Control received a call from a security company at a property in Glastonbury at just after 4 am this morning (January 16)

The alarm had alerted them to the fact the kitchen at the commercial property was full of smoke.

Control mobilised Fire Appliances which came from Glastonbury, Street, and Shepton Mallet along with an Aerial Appliance from Bridgwater and supporting officers.

Once on scene crews confirmed alarms sounding and smoke within the kitchen and dining area.

Crews got to work using two sets of breathing apparatus, one hose reel and two jets to investigate the cause of the smoke.

Crews confirmed the fire to be out and got to work using two Positive Pressure Ventilation fans.

The fire which involved a commercial potato boiler and a tea towel.

The fire was believed to be accidental. It was closed at an incident at 7.30 am.
