Glastonbury Abbey has announced the reopening of its museum and the Abbot's Kitchen as of Saturday July 4 as part of ongoing lockdown easing measures.

The one way system remains in place and will extend to the museum and Abbot's Kitchen during this period of reopening.

It is important that visitors continue to observe social distancing measures and follow all guidance while on site.

For your own safety the abbey requests that visitors do not touch any of the displays or items in the museum or Abbot's Kitchen during this time as it is not appropriate to use modern cleaning products on medieval artefacts.

The Abbot's Kitchen is one of the best preserved medieval kitchens in Europe and is one of the very few surviving medieval kitchens in the world.

The building dates from the 14th century and is the only building on site to survive the destruction of the abbey intact.

The museum houses the abbey's public collections, including a 16th century Othery Cope and a Pall made from medieval material believed to have been the ceremonial cloak worn by the last abbot of Glastonbury.

You can visit Glastonbury Abbey between Wednesdays and Sundays, from 10am to 4pm with last entry at 3.15pm.

Day tickets are currently £5 adults and £3 children with a local visitor ticket offering five visits to the abbey on sale for £15 adults and £7.50 children.
