A new Children's History Club opens its doors at Glastonbury Abbey this weekend.

The abbey's learning and volunteer teams are bringing history to life for nine to 12-year-olds with a talk and craft or interactive drama with this free two-hour club.

Sessions must be booked in advance as places are limited and there are still a number available for this weekend.

The first History Club on Saturday 21 September will meet in the marquee in the abbey grounds, while the remaining sessions will be up at Abbey House.

Saturday 21st September - Tudors - Play Tudor games, make Tudor word searches and join in with a quiz. Dress in costume and engage in a drama session. Decorate a biscuit with a Tudor pattern that you can take home and eat.

Saturday 28th September - Silent Movies - Join in with drama games, learn new skills and create a Silent Movie with heroes, heroines, villains, cops and robbers, then perform your work.

Saturday 5th October - Orchards and Apple Pressing - Learn about different apples in the abbey's orchard, pick and identify the apples, then enjoy crushing and pressing the apples, ready to sample your freshly milled apple juice.

Saturday 12th October - Pilgrimage - Learn a medieval pilgrimage song, make and decorate a pilgrim badge from air drying clay and a pilgrim licence to take home, then dress in costume, create your character and go on an interactive pilgrimage.

Juice and biscuits will be provided. You can book a place via the red button below.
